background music/speaker phone for mobile phone and it works great. The main reason I came to write this | By spdn8

I use this speaker on my ATV for some background music/speaker phone for mobile phone and it works great. The main reason I came to write this review is to praise the build quality. I left this speaker on the back of my rzr for the entire winter. It was subject to ice, snow, lots of rain and weather extremes. I found it the other day and it turned right on. It still had mud all over it from my previous atv trip as well. The battery was still 80% charged and paired up with my new iphone. I've still not charged it after using the entire day yesterday in my back yard. I'm impressed and shocked it still performs as if it were new. Another feature I really like is that you can charge it with a micro usb cable as well as charge your phone with the built in USB port. Buy this speaker. You won't regret it.

MOST AMAZING SPEAKER EVER | By M

This is hands down the most amazing speaker I've ever had the privilege to own. Before I write my reviews, I typically use the product I purchased for an extended period of time before commenting on the function for which it was made. First, I'd like to say that I travel a lot. When I travel, I need to have items with me that are just as durable as they are functional, and I will never hesitate to pay a bit more for something that will last.

This little device has been responsible for more parties in more countries that I care to admit. I was particularly attracted to this Bluetooth speaker because it's durable in every sense of the word. Any time you have a portable device, you need to take into consideration all the things that come with portability such as water, impacts, etc. I've had this speaker since October 2014, and it still functions like it's brand new. Within the two years I've had this, it has withstood heavy impacts, large falls, complete submersion in sand, both fresh, salt water, and spills from colorful liquids in hotels. I have never had a problem with its function or issues connecting. You can literally pour sand, water, and dirt directly into the speaker and pour it out only to find that it works just as well as before.

The sound quality is excellent. Its bass comes from the bottom of the speaker so it sounds better when its on a surface that can reflect the sound. It's loud enough for the beach and on a kayak in open waters (please refer to photos) and the perfect size to take as a carry-on or to throw in your bag to have an amazing system literally wherever you go.

The battery itself lasts a very long time. With minimal use, I charge it once a month at its worst. On 5-6 days long trips, I don't charge it at all because that's how long the battery lasts. It's rated for 12 hours. Not to mention, the battery can charge your phone in case your phone dies. However, with my iphone 6, I was not able to get nearly a full charge from the battery. It's simply not big enough.

Overall, this is an amazing speaker for ALL of your travel purposes, whether on an expedition to mountain-tops  (yes, I've taken this on expeditions) or a simple weekend getaway. The sound quality is phenomenal, the battery is great, it's submersible, and it can withstand insane impacts (check out the video Braven has dropping this off a building and running it over with a hummer... it really is that durable). You won't be disappointed in any way. It's everything you want in a portable speaker. It simply won't let you down... even after two years of hard use!

Toddler approved  | By John the AFOL

I actually bought and compared this to the EcoXGear EcoXBT. So many owners of that speaker love it because it's so loud. I'm a musician, an acoustic musician at that. These speakers are both 6 watts. The EcoxGear is much louder, but I cant stand how tinny and high-heavy the sound is. It might be the lack of bass. The braven is just so delightful. It's much louder than you expect and you have a passive speaker that pushes out an impressive amount of bass from the bottom of the speaker. When you turn it off, you hear the range of its bass with its shut off noise.

As far as the ruggedness, my little 21 month old carries this all over the parking lot. He loves how light it is, especially compared to the EcoxGear, and has dropped it more than once without any problems.

Another thing that this guy has over the compared EcoxGear is that it's buttons are programmed the right way. You have to hold the Power button to switch the device on and off. This essential for a rugged speaker that's expected to keep working after a fall. If you "tap" the volume buttons up or down, you get an increase or decrease in volume. If you hold a volume button down, it performs either a skip (volume +) or review (volume -).

One last thing this speaker has over the EcoxGear is that you can charge your phone (1amp) off of the USB port in the back. This is essential, in my opinion.

A landscapers opinion | By Afixis9on
Color: Black/Orange

I looked at quite a few other bluetooth speakers out there before finally settling on this righteous thingamajigin.
And Im glad that I did for the reasons to follow.

Durable: I havent dropped it but it has endured all the bumps and shocks that come with riding on the dashboard of a landscaping truck. (those little rubber feet grip quite well!) And in the side pocket of a landscapers cargo pants << Think sweat mixed with ridiculous heat then add bumping up and down.

Battery life: Its great for my uses the thing goes for about 4 days before needing a charge. Though I use it mostly for audible books rather than rocknroll. (It has more life left even then but I like to play it safe) I'd say the up to 15 hr life is truthful.

Sound: Im not an audio expert but the books come out crisp! And loud enough to be heard with two windows down doing 65 on the freeway in a truck that jumps ten feet in the air with every pothole. Even more so when you're pruning/weeding/leaf raking.

Portability: It fits most anywhere and it rides comfortably in a decent sized thigh pocket.

Accessibility: I have it paired with my Iphone 4s and I can be about 20ft away and still have steady sound. Also it can easily be paused, the volume adjusted, played etc. quickly. Which is very important if you dont want to annoy the boss!

The charging feature is a nice plus but I havent used it extensively... Yet.

Great Speaker for the Size | By Ninaon
Color: Gray/Cyan

After ruining my former bluetooth speaker by using it one too many times in a steamy bathroom, it was obvious that the next one had to be water resistant. The BRV-1 wasn't my first choice. I actually bought the TDK Life on Record A33 Wireless Weatherproof Speaker The sound on the TDK is amazing for a mid-priced bluetooth speaker. But, it kept loosing connectivity with the iPod touch. The other things I didn't like about the TDK were the weight & shape. That speaker really needs a handle. The playtime wasn't very long either - under 6 hours.

The BRV-1 is completely different. It's an ugly/cute little thing. Lightweight (although hefty considering its size). It feels much more rugged. I love the lanyard - you can carry the speaker with it, or hang the speaker from the showerhead. The first music I played on the BRV-1 was some Sinatra big-band. It sounded very tiny. But, after the EQ setting on the iPod was adjusted the sound was much improved. I've never messed with the setting before, but it did make a difference. The sound is darn good - better than I expected from a speaker this size.

Another thing I like about the BRV-1 is that charging is via a standard micro-USB cable. It comes with a USB cable. But, at this point most folks have a bunch of micro-USB power cords from cell phones, Kindles, etc. My Kindle charger is charging the BRV-1 just fine. The A33, on the other hand, has to be charged via the large power cord supplied by TDK.

Establishing a bluetooth connection with the BRV-1 was easy. There hasn't been any issue with it dropping the connection (used with an iPad 3, iPod touch 3, and iPod touch 5). Even after playing for most of a day it for most of the day, it still has a substantial charge left. (Braven advertises a 12-hr. playtime, and that seems about right.) You can see how much charge the battery has left by connecting it to a power supply - there are 5 lights that show how much it's got left.

On the negative side, the BRV-1 isn't as particularly loud. If you like to blast your music, this isn't the speaker for you. Also, I wish that the cap was somehow attached so that you wouldn't have to worry about misplacing it. (Has to be removed to charge the speaker) If you loose that cap, it's no longer water resistant.

I'm very happy with the BRV-1. It's exactly what I was looking for.
